Mexican
players and billiard enthusiasts had the pleasure
to witness one of the best 3-cushion billiards
shows in the American continent. It had been
a while since the World Cup Association held
an event in Latin America. A group of American
promoters held the first of these events in Las
Vegas at the turn of the millennium. The "Las
Vegas World Cup" was held for four consecutive
years. The interaction with the best
players in the world was a key factor in developing
higher standards in American and Latin American
players.
A Colombian marketing group sponsored by the
Bavarian Group (the largest beer company in Colombia)
brought the World Cup players to Colombia for four
consecutive years 2000 to 2002. Other World Cup
activities in our hemisphere have been limited
to isolated presentations in Mexico and Argentina.
The
World Cup Players include the best players in
the world. They are mostly Europeans, Koreans
and Japanese. They hold the highest playing
standards in the world with averages ranging
from 1.300 to 2.000. Even though Americans and
Latin Players practically have no chance in
beating "The Super Players", interacting
with them has proven to be very beneficial. In
the past years we have seen how the level of
play of our players have increased to a point
that they can (at a given time) defeat their
superior counterparts.
